Mandarin Orange Homemade Spread
Ingredients
- 6 Nos Mandarin Oranges
- ½ cup Brown Sugar
- ½ tsp Salt
- 1 tsp Citric Acid
- 1.5 tbsp Cornstarch
- ¼ cup Water
- ½ no Lime
Instructions
- Peel the oranges.
- Take the peel of 2 oranges and remove the white pith using a peeler or a knife.
- Soak in hot water for 30 minutes.
- After 30 minutes, starin and discard the water.
- Add the soaked peel alongwith the flesh of 6 oranges to a blender jar.
- Grind to a fine paste.
- Add this orange paste/puree to a heavy bottom pan and cook till it starts to thicken. This will take about 10 minutes. Continue to stir.
- Add sugar and continue to cook for 5 more minutes.
- Keep stirring and cooking. Or, keep the flame low and leave it for about 10 minutes.
- Add salt and citric acid.
- Add corn flour to water and make a slurry.
- Mix it with the orange and continue to cook till everything starts to come together.
- Fill in a glass jar.
- Enjoy as a spread
- You can spoon or pipe it as a topping for your yogurt or oats.
- You can also mix with soda or water to have an instant drink.
